You could make the same argument for the complaints against manual transmissions. Most of the complaints or reasons for not buying one so far come from an individuals' own inexperience with manual and unwillingness to learn how to drive one, or use one in traffic.

As auto enthusiasts, with a higher than average understanding of vehicle mechanics and dynamics, can any of us honestly (to ourselves) say that there is a completely equal level of control/connected-ness to the car between automatic and manual? It may be only a slight difference, but the difference is still there. For some it's important enough to go with the manual, and for others it's insignificant enough to opt for the ease of an automatic.
