The automatic FR-S is just another way to make sales. Without it the FR-S might have gone the way of the S2000 with a few years of sales and then gone.

To be fair, the TC could be considered the vehicle that fills that youth segment w/ an automatic option. While I think that everyone should be happy with their car, I do feel that certain cars should only be offered in manual. The S2000 was an excellent example of this. I still wish they'd done the same thing with the NSX too. It's a double-edged sword though, because it will kill the sales. Unfortunately, we just can't win 'em all.
