Don't think it would still run and not have oil all over under it leaving milky oil in the pan if it was windowed.

Decided to let the dealer puck it up after talking to the service manager I know and being up front. Because there is a tsb for the codes I have we shall see what happens.

As for LS1 vs LS3 the LS Series are all Aluminium. There are the LQ Series which are normally Iron but I do believe they can be found in Aluminium occasionally (Escalades) the 5.3 comes in both but that's not an LS1. They are all VERY similar and share/swap parts but I would be using the smaller 5.7L LS1 and it is all aluminium. Looks like I might just put some serious thought into selling my turbo kit and doing this...
