That is a good question. The main reason I got the wing is because I was having traction issues on the street. As much as I wish I could do autocross every day, I still drive the car most on joy rides on the curvy rural roads around where I live. It didn't take much for the back end to break loose. There are several particular places where the back end would break loose 100% of the time at certain speeds, one of which was just going in a straight line. My car probably only has about 180whp or so, so doing a burnout at 50mph in a straight line is totally unacceptable. I put the wing on and problem solved! I can go around corners way faster than before and it even feels safer at higher speeds than it did before at lower speeds.
I was skeptical at first, but now I'm totally certain that it works, and it works really well. I even dialed the angle of attack back because it keeps me planted so well I figured I was just creating unnecessary drag and virtual weight on the back end.
Another benefit of the wing that I hadn't even hoped for was that it makes my car completely stable at high speeds now. It used to get a little wobbly above 80mph. Nothing too drastic, but it was always like there were suddenly cross winds kind of moving the car around as if all the air the car was cutting through was turbulent all day every day. But not anymore.
But yeah, it probably doesn't do anything for autocross.
