I'm glad this thread exists because I'm having a similar issue with the size. I'm most likely going with a 17x8 wheel and I can't decide between a 225/45 and a 245/40 tire. I like the 245/40 more because it has less speedo error (but I know people will say 1.3% vs 0.3% isn't really an issue) and because I kind of like the meaty tire look. But I'm worried a 245/40 is too much tire for stock power. 225/45 is cheaper, and judging by this thread and other stuff I've read, there is a such thing as too wide on tires, so skinnier is better on stock power.
