im not trying to stick up for him but him updating the system and replacing faulty parts seems to be the correct response to a situation like that. after about 200 people on a forum (which probably 90% do not even have experience with the product) bash on someone its just easier for everyone to just follow along after that.

This! Yes he sold leaky fittings, but he didn't install them. Anytime you're touching fuel lines you HAVE to be very diligent to check for leaks at install time, and after a bit of time has passed.
There were a few GTI's that burned down from a fuel leak in the engine bay, all 100% stock cars.
