So instead of getting 12v when you go to reverse it does it when you flip a switch. Another 12v source is used and all the switch does is put this 12v to that reverse pin.

Oh I reckon I see now! There are
two wires to the pin. One to the transmission switch and the other to a switch to "the other source". I haven't picked up on the other source that should be used. I suppose it was assumed. So any other source to the accessories would do?
