Adjusting for as high as they go should actually be good unless you have your car loaded down in the back... at least on my STI the highest level was set up still pretty low imo and I felt that the adjustment was a novelty on that car. Autoleveling would still be nice for instances where your car pitches dramatically, like speed humps and train tracks ect..
I definitely agree with the rest of your post though. I cringe when I see people talking about doing HID conversions. People don't seem to get that the housing is totally different and a proper shroud is critical to not blinding everyone on the road. Best case they catch on fire and are ruined... worst case you are causing a real safety problem driving around at night. I'm sure we will also be seeing plenty of fog light HID conversions... ugh
