Because subaru did all the engineering... Yeah, sure, you can look at toyota's past and see all these other legendary cars built by them, but they didn't build this car. They designed it, did some marketing stuff, and let subaru do all the engineering. Under that toyota hood lies the toyota fuel injection and nothing but subaru.
