The pain of spending so much money on the car is significantly reduced after spending $4K+ (maybe 5K? I haven't added it all up since I was also buying stuff like a fire suit for a lemons race at the same time) getting a proper, full safety system (custom weld in roll bar, two fia certified seats, harnesses for both, hans device, mounting stuff, etc.) for the car. Building a good dual purpose machine is pricey (but very fun).
