I've learned with my old SI that the handling trumps the HP.
And honestly, until I see gas usage on the BRZ STI, I can't say that would be better. Alternatively, I think this BRZ engine can be upgraded easy with cold air intakes and exhaust upgrades, as they said it was designed with more headroom than it uses. They said it could have as much as 250 HP with a few tweaks, turboed to 275ish even. Just not sure what it would do for the gas.

We'll see about 250hp NA from a "few tweaks", which are an I/E + Tune. I doubt there's that much power tied up in the ECU for a flash, especially at it's 12.5:1 CR. If they did do that, it's HP would be really peaky, and torque will probably plummet lower than it already is. I'll believe 250hp NA when I see it, and that it's actually "usable" power, not some peak-queen.
If you were buying a FI model, you're not expecting good MPG anyways, you know what you're getting into. Though it probably wouldn't be pretty, as the way it sits now it's MPG ratings aren't that great at all for 200hp and 151tq.
They can't expect to compete with this car in the 30k range unless it's around 300hp, which is still less than it's competition, but it's weight should make up the difference.
