I really wonder how much the BRZ Stil will cost. You are right that if they get too close to 30K it's exponentially worse
A direct competitor in that price bracket is a familiar RWD Z coupe
Nissan 370Z
MSRP $31,910 + $780 dest.
If Subaru really is going to come out with a STI, it's better to not half ass it and keep to the whole pure weight reduction plan. I don't get the whole resistance of adding FI to this car. Toyota claims that it will change the "fun" factor of this car. The whole point is to provide the best platform for modification and Toyota's statement contradicts that. They just don't want to jack up the price or sabotage their 1st gen sales.
The original STI weight reduction - Jenny Craig taibo isn't very effective at such a high price point. They better pack some more power under that hood to throw out some Bruce Lee lee punches. Despite me wanting to keep this car NA... If the STI is 2600 lbs and turbo charged to 300 HP with a Nissan Z rwd coupe MSRP , I think it will annihilate everything on the market. At near 30K it's really hard ..not to look at the HP numbers.
I just blame Toyota. Their pricing for the FRS is just too damn high and pushes everything up. Subaru is trapped as they know they can't push this beyond the WRX price and they can't go lower than the FRS.
