To the OP. I believe they are equally effective. And by that I mean you'll still end up getting mud and dirt all over your car if you drive through rain puddles and muddy roads with either one. You may protect the 6-12'' behind the flap on the underside from rock chips, maybe. But after that, they are just an aesthetic.
Well this makes me reconsider my purchase cause it's the little water puddles bother me.
