In the Netherlands the cars are also pretty rare.
Right now there are 159 cars sold (or are available at the dealers).

Selling numbers:
2012 GT86: 113 / BRZ: 22
2013 GT86: 14 / BRZ: none
2014 GT86: 7 / BRZ: 3

Like Killerbee said, probably because of the high taxes which affects the price.
GT86 base: 39.990 euros => 54.646 US dollars
BRZ: 38.995 euros => 53.287 US dollars

The NL goverment promotes eco-friendly cars, and bills extra taxes for fun-to-drive-cars.
The new STI for example costs around 75.995 euro -> 103.847 us dollar which is caused by the extra taxes for the high amount of CO2 emissions.

So most of the Dutch cars are VW Bluemotions, EV's and hybrids.
