Watch your fuel trims long term fuel trim and short term fuel trim while on petrol so you get see how they look, using your OFT Short term trim will jump around as your on off the accelerator and ltft will be much more stable as its the long term average of the stft over time.
Both should be less than 10 % in steady state easy driving most likely less
than 6%.
To change to E85
1. run your tank down till light on (still 1 or 2 gallons left)
2. fill with e85
3. Plug in your oft and monitor fuel trims stft and ltft use guage big display.
4.Drive off easy on petrol tune (don't go on highway) no wide open throttle stay under 4k
5. after a mile or 2 you will see stft rise rapidly to over 10% and stay there, as soon as you see this pull over and stop
6. Flash E85 tune
7. Drive off easy monitoring fuel trims again, they will probably be a bit higher than of petrol as they will be compensating for differences in E% of your E85 , but they should stabilize below 10% most likely less than 8%. Again this is steady state driving not on/off throttle.
8. Give it 20 miles or so to learn E% of your E85 and you should be sweet.
reverse when going back to petrol.
You can just flash the E85 tune at the service station but the learning process will be longer as the E85 tune will try to learn petrol then have to learn E85 trims, once the petrol clears
Either way just drive easy for first 10 to 15 miles of so till everything settles down on the new fuel, then gradually give it some more revs.
