It sounds that way because it is more free and aggressive. It is the higher performance, more technologically advanced design.
I've only heard one good reason to get a UEL and that is to get the FT86 SpeedFactory catted header if you don't want to mess with a tune. But if they made an EL, there would be no good reason to get a UEL.
