They didn't use the 2zz because of the lift characteristics. Guessing the lawyers were afraid some chick would have a cam phase over mid corner, spin out, crash into a tree backwards and sue Toyota (or their family sue Toyota in the worst of cases) ***rolls eyes***
Let it be said, the MR-S with a 2ZZ swap is a total beast. Probably would have sold enough to till be in production today (or at least it's successor) me thinks.
