I would suggest to spray the pillar slighty with WD40. The capillary effect should indeed push water away and prevent rust..don't get it on the glass. |
Have you pushed down on the hard rubber where it crosses the pillar?
Mine has only been rained on a few days in the year I've owned it and it has clear rust lines on both sides. Seriously, I bet I could count the # of days it has seen rain on possibly one hand but for sure two.
