I agree. The whole 86 thing is from Toyota's past. Not to mention the car was designed by Toyota. If this was really a Subaru would it not be AWD? And besides, there is nothing keeping Subaru from doing whatever they want with the BRZ. They could slap a turbo on it and call it an STI, they don't need Toyota to give up on the 86 platform to do that. I don't really understand what all the fuss is about, there is nothing keeping anybody from adding more power themselves. I mean a factory installed turbo/super is going to add major cost on to the MSRP of the car, and will not even add very much power, at least not as much as an aftermarket kit. All you have to do is pony up some bucks, buy a FI kit, and get more power for less money than you would from a new model at the dealer. "Oh, but the warranty, the WARRANTY!"
boo F'n hoo, if they made a FI version everyone would say it doesn't add quite enough and would want to up the boost, which would of course void the warranty.
Ouch!!! man that horse is a little high to get down from comfortably...
