Dealer just completed the work. It turns out they replaced the whole tail light assembly and gasket so I was pleasantly surprised. But if the pieces have not been redesigned I'm sure the problem will come back as it seems to be for most others. When it does I'll just replace the gasket with the aftermarket ones mentioned in this thread.
