Whatever you do, don't preload the clutch pedal. There's a bypass valve built into the master cylinder that releases pedal pressure. If you adjust too much and there's no freeplay in the pedal you will get "pedal pump up" which is where it doesn't allow the pressure to subside, resulting in a clutch that's basically halfway depressed ALL THE TIME.
The way to check is to make sure the slave cylinder can be depressed when your clutch pedal is at resting state.
