I understand what makes a car fun, but I think you're underestimating the importance of power. Moreover, to say that the WRX/STI platform doesn't handle well is a mistake. I can admit, since I own one, that the steering is vague, at least compared to an Evo 8-9, but that doesn't stop me from having fun on the weekends.
Also, I'm not sure that I ever said that the WRX is the funniest car in the market. I've always thought of it being rather serious.
