I talked to my local dealership about mine again (0102).
He said that he ran a VIN check for the 5 cars after mine (103-107) and they all showed up in his registry.
He ran the 5 VINs before mine (97-101) and did not see any.
I bought my car used at that dealer and they had bought it from an auction.
The dealer said that can happen because the companies that present brand new production cars to the reviewers ( like Car & Driver) get the first few "true production" cars for the evaluation/reviews.
When they are done with them, they sell them at auction.
So not only is my car one of the very first production cars in the US, it was also probably driven by the professional drivers for the likes of Car&Driver, edmunds, kbb, etc.
That means it probably had a thorough thrashing, but on the flip side: Do we think the factory would allow one of the very first cars to be evaluated to be a lemon? It probably had a little extra care from the quality inspection standpoint.
