There is a turn (10) here at Wild Horse Pass West (formerly Firebird) where I actually upshift from 2nd to 3rd and simultaneously brake for turn in just because it's smoother through the turn instead of being topped out in 2nd with 'technically' more power. I then have to shift back down to 2nd for turn 11, but being in the middle of the powerband in turn 10 allows me to smoothly throttle steer instead of being choppy.
