Since this seems to be fairly common, with no sign of leakage, no sign of contamination of oil or exhaust (based on my visual, smell and taste test) I think this is attributed to evaporation from the reservoir.
The time I noticed my reservoir was empty, my radiator was still full to the top.
I filled the reservoir to the full mark and have put about 300 miles on the car and lost about 3/8" from the full mark.
I then extracted all of the coolant from the reservoir and drove approximately 300 miles yesterday and checked the level from the radiator cap both shortly after garaging the car and then this morning.
Full to the brim.
