When I read the Nissan rep's comments my thoughts were that he was eluding to the next Z35 not the IDX.
I think IDX will cost slightly less than the twins with similar power but the Z will be more powerful (with turbo 4cyl) and slightly higher priced. Right now you can get a 370Z for BRZ limited prices.
Most of Nissan's quotes about the IDX make it seem like more of an entry level sporty commuter car leaving the Z replacement as the real sports car in the line-up. They're trying to bracket the twins on either side with different sporty offerings hoping people will cross shop. I could be wrong though.
