What brand bulbs are the same that you saw?

The Sylvania (which is as close to OEM you can get over the counter) 7444 (or 7443) and 7440 bulbs have different bases. The 7440 bulb has an extra nub or 2. The 7440 socket has an extra set of notches for the nubs to slide into. The 7444 (or 7443) bulbs don't have the extra nubs, so they can slide into the 7440 sockets.

But the 7440 (with the extra nub) won't slide into the correct 7443 socket because the 7443 socket doesn't have the extra notches.
