I've had 3. The first one was scary as hell because I didn't know what was going on. Went to the ER, MRI, shot of morphine, short 5m visit from a doc and $4500 later I was out the door.

Second one, went to small city hospital in OK (was on the road for work), exact same procedure, $800 (Yay totally crazy health care system).

Third one I read about taking hot bath to loosen up the ureter to help with passing (from a Navy Seal's blog which I can no longer find). Basically you fill the tub with as hot of water as you can stand and keep it hot. Soak for 30m, then go for a short walk around the house and get back in. If the pain keeps increasing then head to the ER. I passed my 3rd stone in the tub. $0.
