Well I haven't heard the crickets either but males lose high pitch hearing early age if they have a non-office job. I am an audiophile hobbiest and have measured the cricket sound but its too high pitch unless I put my ear to the HPFP.

There's also a bit of truth to them branding this as a Scion because it doesn't quite live up to Toyota quality and reliability ratings in the US market. Can you imagine Consumer Reports putting a Toyota on a do not buy list. Luckily the CY 2014's are getting very reliable. Toyota is diligent in continuous improvement and while it will never be a Tc or Corolla (its a Subaru) the factory will get their quality ratings up. This is Toyota we are talking about they either win or cut bait and sell-off.
