I do not have enough knowledge to back up my thoughts on this, ok?

But 125hp/litre sounds to me like an awful lot for a low end engine. I mean Ferarri's 458 gets the same specific output and it's max power occurs at 9,000 rpm. Honda's S2000 was 237 bhp @ 8,3000 for 119bhp/litre. I don't think Subaru would go to the expense and trouble of designing an engine to rev that high.

Just my 3&1/2 cents.
