It was intended to be the hotel/restaurant centerpiece of a luxury resort. But the building and land was donated to the City of Reading in 1911. Now it is part of a Reserve. It was used "back in the day" to let the firefighters know about fires and what not as well (there are lights on it) These days there is a Cafe' in it that is open sometimes and its more of a overlook now.
