Position 12-17: The Serial Number
This is the sequentially assigned final portion of the VIN. In cases of small manufacturers, less than 500 vehicles annually, digits 12-14 are assigned to uniquely identify the manufacturer.

I am thinking our cars should be among the first made for import into the US for retail sale so the VIN should be real low. We do get our cars about a month before anyone else.
There will be a different unique digit in the vins of the BRZ and FR-S cars to distinguish between the two car brands (the 3rd digit in the vin), aka a Chevy and GMC truck built on the same assembly line.
I have wishful thinking the 12th through 17th digits of our vins would be from 000001 to 000086. I would rather have a "first 86" vin number than a dash plaque.
But I would be satisfied if the vin number were < 000150.
