Stopped by my dealer yesterday to get an update. They haven't heard anything about a delivery of the 1st86 or general delivery. They said they had 40 people on their wait list, and about a dozen firm commitments (down payment).
The Scion manager, who wasn't there when I originally went in to put down the deposit, was very excited to meet me. She was looking forward to delivery of the car. Apparently she knew they were getting a 1st86 but hadn't been given my info. The floor manager said, "you mean this?" and pulled a folder from behind their desk that said "FIRST 86" and my name in big letters. I thought the Scion manager was going to beat him silly right there because she had been looking for it for weeks wanting to invite me to a big Scion customized car show they had a couple of weeks ago at the dealership. Apparantly they had about 100 locally customized Scions show up.
She also verified that they promised not to do anything to the car until I took delivery (no front plate, no dealer stickers, no driving, etc). Both the general sales manager (its also a Toyota dealer) and the Scion sales manager said they heard the cars were going to have number plates.
A couple of sales guys asked if I knew what number was (which obviously I don't) and did I plan to drive it if I got number 1. My answer was yes, I'd drive it, I can't afford a garage queen.
Unfortunately this dealer doesn't sell any branded stuff so all I was able to beg off of them are 3 scion visors and a dealer polo shirt. If any of the 1st86 that will be in SoCal want a visor let me know and I'll bring it with me. They are black cloth with the Scion logo. I dont do visors, they leave my folically challenged scalp exposed...
