I am mainly interested with the factory battery. I doubt it is sealed, but it is a working battery and seems a waste of money to buy a whole new one. I just wasn't sure about needing to be vented. I googled it, but some people said the newer batteries only give off hydrogen, insted of acid vapor(rust causing) like the older batteries. and that the trunk isn't completely sealed, so there shouldn't be a problem with buildup.
