General consensus is that if you start advancing timing and the power gain is minimal without knock, you're around MBT and it's best to back off the timing to the last known with the biggest gain. This is done for reliability rather than searching for that last few bhp. As Shiv has done his testing, I wouldn't go too mental.
It's also going to be difficult to do any form of MAF scaling/calibration if the E% content is varying.

Can you post your sources? Everything I've read suggests that ideal AFR for E85 to be around 12.5:1 if not leaner for maximum power (also same goes for na gasoline tunes). Under low load cruising conditions anything from 15:1 to 16:1 can be run safely on E85, I've also read. This is also ideal for the pocketbook, since leaner usually means less fuel consumption. And it's good for the environment and stuff.
