No, it's because I have one family member who has owned an AP1 from new, and one who owned an AP2. I have driven both on the track and on the same stretch of twisties, and I much prefer the AP1. Most enthusiasts prefer the AP1 because:
1. The S2K is all about the high revving motor. The car had the highest specific output of any naturally aspirated standard production car of its time. 8000 rpm is a lot less interesting. That motor opens its lungs up at 6K rpm, so the extra 1000 rpm of range really does make a difference in spirited driving.
2. The chassis tuning for the AP1 was better. They took it down a notch in the revision to give it "safe" understeer. That worsens the car, in my opinion.

Next time, if you disagree, you might try providing information supporting your point of view. Quit trying to ascribe motives to others; you are not much good at it.
