Similar to what we have in the states. Well.. most states. Federal regulations say rifle barrels have to be minimum 16" in length. Anything else is classified as an SBR or Short Barreled Rifle and must had an NFA tax stamp or else it's a felony for possession. NFA items are relatively straightforward in most states, just cumbersome. File paperwork, pay $200 fee, wait 6 months or more, get your paperwork. Here in CA, NFA items are completely impossible. People can get around the NFA restrictions in the case of SBR by making an AR pistol. As long as it does not have a buttstock attached to it and it meets all other requirements, it is classified as a pistol. Which means it can have short barrels (usually 7", 10" 12" etc).
