right now I'm working a lot with a stats program called R, doubt you've heard of it but maybe. It's bigger in the statistics world. using it for predictive analytics. Pretty interesting stuff, but the R language is syntactically awful. It is a statistician's dream language, but a programmer's nightmare. No variable definitions (well I guess php can be like that.. ), assignment operator is <- , lacks solid OOP foundation. Just can't stand it. it is so far from c, c++, php, java, etc..

sounds like you work for a small(er) company though. As much as I like development I'm moving away from it and more into an analyst role as india and mexico have taken most of our development work away

R is fun for machine learning and predictive analysis, but agreed in that it's about as fun a language to learn as Lisp.
