Upgraded injectors/fuel pump/engine management could be tough to sort out, and the intake ports are optimized for the direct injection system, that could be difficult to work out too. Also longer duration cams cost more to replace on a boxer engine too.
9000rpm could be stretching it a bit, a little over 8000 would make me happy.:happy0180:
