Hence why GT-S' are rare. Though my 12,000 figure was off the top of my head, from some thread on Club4A from years ago that I cannot recall exactly. I know it wasn't MSRP, but I think it was a sticker price after options and, of course, dealer mark-up, etc.
In the Corolla's defense, it did have the most technologically advanced sports engine in Toyota's lineup at the time. Comical really, for a Corolla to have that over the touted Celica Supra (and Celica GTS).
