Indeed. Just the radiator fans at idle had like a 30 degree impact on the header tube temps. Side in the air flow was significantly cooler than the other side. The fans and air from movement should actually keep temps well in check in my opinion. I know I kicked a hornets nest by daring to question which type of ceramic coating was being used. I'm simply curious why folks with coated headers were expressing so much concern. Perhaps the reason they are more vocal is the very reason they opted for coating to begin with. Just made me wonder if the coating was intended purely for flow at the potential expense of more radiation. So I asked and took some measurements. I very much hope and expect it to be a proper thermal barrier. I just want to know for certain. I'd still like to see a surface temp reading on the actual header at its highest point nearest the intake. Hopefully it is well below 200F.
