OK, so i got there and realized that the mirror box is an additional R1500. The unit i wanted the 2650 is R5k

So I started comparing the two models, the 2650 to the 1650 and there was minimal difference. The biggest difference was that the 2650 can charge your phone via usb. Other differences were things like zone control on the audio. We dont need that since our cars are so small on the interior.

I bought the 1650 instead. The unit was R3400 + R1500 for the mirror box + antennae adapter + Toyota to ISO adapter cables + trim plates
They let me have all of it all for R5k which I think is a good price.

The quality of the head unit is good. The buttons feel since and solid, the interface on the touch screen works well unlike the previous unit i purchased from stopshop for my hilux.

To tell the truth I havent had a chance to properly test it out yet. Just been too busy with visitors at home etc.

One issue (which is a BIG issue as its the reason I bought this unit), I havent managed to get the phone screen mirror function working yet.
I spoke to the supplier this morning and they gave me some advice on what to try. If it still doesnt work I will go through to them on Saturday to check it.

The installation wasn't as simple as we thought it would be. The existing mounting brackets have to be transferred to the new system but they have to be modified. Currently the bracket has an L shape which "wraps" around the top of the existing unit. That L has to be bent out to make the bracket flat instead in order for it to fit. See the top part of the bracket in the pic below.
