Aren't Subaru's fairly easy to tune using the stock ecu. The transmission is another area of concern. I know the wrx transmissions have been known to be weak whereas the sti transmissions are better and ca handle more power.

The EJ20H uses a sequential twin-turbo setup. First one spools, then the other. The Mk4 twin turbo Supras use a similar system. On the Supra, as the first one approaches its set boost, the sequential system begins to 'pre-spool' the second turbo so that by the time the first one is at full, the second one is smoothly continuing. (Rough explanation). The EJ20H uses the same idea, but apparently not as smoothly, and I've heard of a lot of complaints of a dead spot from lag at the transition from 1 to 2 turbo operation. They call it the Valley of Death. It may be over-dramatized, but the EJ20H doesn't seem to make it into swapped Imprezas.
An advantage the transmission will have is not having AWD that will be trying to break it on hard launches. Wheelspin will be the fuse, at least for a stock car. But if this car comes out NA and with no plans for a turbo (god forbid...) the transmission (and diff) may end up being the weak link, even if you boost the motor yourself.
