I have an AT and I drive it in manual mode almost all the time (unless I'm stuck in really severe traffic or drinking a cup of coffee), I shift at around 3000 rpm, basically a little after the red arrow light indicator tells me to. I mainly do city driving and get about 23 MPG give or take 1-2 mpg.
