What do you know about what kind of transmission they would use for this in RWD config? Won't be a North American one, all are AWD. Unless they just take out the center diff and front axles?
Oh, you weren't sign up to hear that info. FT86 will be using Aisin AI tranny. Search "Tokyo Metapolis" and you'll find Hachiroku's thread on few faqs on FT86.

Anyways, US ver will be RWD. I'm betting that it's gonna have same bolt patter as current STI block. There's no benefit for Subaru to change the bolt patter on the block for Toyota, so Aisin AI will work around that.

I don't think swapping current STI engine isn't great idea on FT86. Engine drop in gonna be the easiest part... wiring is different story. You gotta be running full stand-alone to run it normal.

Also I think internal upgrade w bolt-on turbo gonna be cheaper & perform better than doing full STI swap.
