I didn't pay anything remotely close to that amount and those prices listed are MSRP. They are expensive but for a weight conscious or race build a savings of 26lbs is huge. They're also built in the USA with A123 cells and come with a warranty even when installed in race applications.

I don't know what our starter amperage requirement is but my $73 Penn/Deka rebranded 11lb AGM ext14 battery put out 220cca and started the motor fine throughout the winter. Even running e85 that sometimes required extended or multiple cranks it never left me stranded.
