For working out, again ease into it with realistic shorter-term goals. Personally, I've done the P90x program as well as the Insanity program, and they work well, but after a few rounds, I've found I'd rather buy a Groupon for a group exercise class instead- it gets me out of the house, surrounded by like-minded people and is easier for me to stick to as now I'm accountable- if I don't show up, people ask Check out some routines others have done- good, real advice here, but you're already off to a good start. Any activity is better than no activity. Today I went for a 1 hour brisk walk full of hills and pushed myself to keep the same pace uphill as downhill.
Another tip that I now live by as it keeps me on track: write everything down, so you can see where you came from. I used to workout just to workout and it was fine, but I had nothing to refer to. Also, take photos along the way, and weigh yourself. After month 1 of P90x, I lost 5lbs. I've never been a large girl, but 5lbs was depressing until I saw the photos and what 5lbs looks like. So take some photos, print out a calendar, take your basic measurements and keep us posted

Yup, this chicks got it down.I would also recommend tracking your daily food intake. I use myfitnesspal. Although it can get tedious and on some days i just don't use it. It does help in the long run.
I also wouldn't recommend getting to into working out religiously as it usually causes someone to burn out on interest. One of the main reasons people stop working out is that they treat it as a chore. I found it fun. Tried to best myself every week. You don't really need to work out that long, i've been going for about 40 minutes for my main body part im working out for the day and stay another 20 mints for cardio type stuff. I really don't need the cardio but i love to eat and i get hungry way to fast. It's so i can eat that extra handful of peanuts when i get home.
If you're not willing to buy weights or a gym membership you can start out light. Do some light body workouts when you wake up in the morning. Some push ups, pill ups, sit ups, or light jogging. Get the body running. Eventually when you want to change it up a little go to your nearest park and start working on some more body weight excercies using the jungle gym. Theres a lot of awesome info on jungle gym weighted exercises that you can try out each day. Just give each body part at least 48 hours of rest.
