I have mixed feelings on the chatter about increased production.
I don't want to see BRZ's / FRS's on every street corner. I'd like them to be exclusive and rare. I hate having the same car as everyone else.
I can tell you that if I were paying full MSRP or higher, I'd be ready to back out and not buy the car by now. They've been trying to justify higher pricing due to limited quantity, and that makes sense to me and everyone else. But now they seem to be going back on the limited production theory.. if they've already announced one increase in capacity capability, they can certainly do that again and again in the future.
Subaru and Toyota need to make money on the venture... obviously.. The only good thing I can see from the talk of higher capacity is that it might indicate that they intend to keep the price low (sub $25k). Expanding production means they can spread out more of the fixed costs and keep pricing down. So rather than having to fight to keep demand high to justify the sales, they may be willing to keep price down to generate demand as well. So that is the silver lining.
