I think he may have meant it's the first Subaru to hit 100hp/L power density naturally aspirated; that would be true. As far as 15 years not being recent...it is. We're way off-topic though. So...

I think this is going to be like every other hot car unless BRZ production/export to the United States is kept artificially low, which I doubt. I do not, however, doubt that this car is as important to Subaru as it is to Toyota. Obviously, Subaru wants to sell this car, but I've postulated before that I think their gain in this is the chassis/platform itself rather than sales of the car itself. Whereas, for Toyota their success is contingent upon selling as many of these as possible. Regardless of targeted or projected sales figures, the Subaru at least, will be sold in limited quantities.

Just for numbers: in 2002 Subaru sold 18K WRX. Those were considered sold under "limited quantities" and under similar pretenses, but 18K is NOT limited. Nowadays you can find one at invoice, though they are harder to find on the lot as compared to other models. Why would you buy off the lot anyway though?
