do you guys know what will be the average of his insurance ?
From experience, (I am not an insurance agent and never played on on TV or stayed in an Holiday Inn Express but I have 3 sons that were 4 years apart getting their license and hitting my insurance) it will be about double the parents rate, if the parents have a good driving record and the kid is driving a "safe" car. Also, assuming the <25 year old has an "assigned car" it will only make the parents go up by about 10% on their vehicles. If the youth does not have an "assigned car" his rate will apply to all cars.

For example, my wife drives a 2005 Mustang, my 19 year old drives a 2002 Honda Accord. Both have no dings on their records. His insurance is almost exactly double hers.

After my oldest son got his license, I did out of curiousity see what the price would be to assign him the (then new) 2005 Mustang Convertible. It was about 4 times the cost of having my wife listed as primary driver.

So in summary, as someone above said "A LOT".
